Notable Achievements

 

The Museum has accomplished a number of notable feats in its ten-year history:

 

  • * Assistance to several American mission churches and foreign missions in Mexico, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, and Russia, as well as nearly a third of diocesan parishes are using articles from the museum.  The museum helped furnish an entire church in Kentucky and another in Mexico.   The Museum is listed and advertises in the P.J. Kenedy Directory and advises churches outside the diocese in renovations and restorations.

  • * Two National Seminars (On the Establishment of Diocesan Museums - Cardinal Marchisano, Guest Speaker, and Sacred Art and Architecture - Duncan Stroik of Notre Dame, Guest Speaker)

  • * Retreat days for many diocesan Confirmation Classes and RCIA Classes
  • * Tours for parish organizations
  • * Special exhibits and presentations on former Bishops, Sisters, Mission art.  The Museum has also sponsored the St. Peter Reunion, the Holy Rosary Reunion, and co-sponsored the St. Cyprian Reunion, as well as the Holy Family and Aquinas High School reunions.  Other groups have ranged from funeral directors to youth groups and many groups from non-Catholic and Jewish communities.
  • * Consultation and referral for many parishes in the restoration and preservation of local art and architecture and pipe organs.

  • * The Museum has hosted a number of distinguished guests: Francesco Cardinal Marchisano (twice), Francis Cardinal Arinze, Dr. Cristina Carlo-Stella (from the Pontifical Commission for Cultural Heritage of the Church), Archduke Edward and Archduchess Maria Teresa Von Habsburg, Sir Harold Riley (Royal artist, London), Father Benedict Groeschel, CFR, and Members of the staff of the Pope John Paul II Center - Washington, DC
